Brian Heath Interviews Me

Here's a long telephone interview Brian Heath conducted with me.

Is blogging something that you see yourself doing down the road a bit?

Possibly. I’ve always been interested in new media. Boing Boing started off as a photocopied print zine, in the early 80s. My wife and I were interested in things like cyberpunk and underground comics. Whenever a new way of diseminating information comes around, I’m always curious about checking it out. And fortunately so far, I’ve been able to make a living doing that. It might not specifically be blogging, well into my golden years, but something along those line, I’m sure I’ll be doing.

Is there a technology coming out now that you see eclipsing blogging for you?

I do feel that blogging is still relatively new, so there’s a lot of growth there and room for experimentation. You can post anything–sound files, video files, Flash games, and things like that. It’s almost the ultimate platform. Any kind of digital media can be attached to it, so I think there’s plenty of room for exploration there. Boing Boing is starting to work on videos. By the end of the summer, we’ll have something to show the world.
