Make Vol. 11

Volume 11: Our special "DIY Wheels" section brings you plans for making a mobile drive-in movie theater, a cool chopper out of an old bicycle, and a pedal-powered iPod charger. We'll also show you how to make a remote control bird feeder to take amazing photos of birds, a vintage-style remote control race car out of sheet metal, and a vacuum former that lets you create molded 3D parts out of plastic. These articles are just the tip of the iceberg in this project-packed volume of MAKE.

Make Halloween Special

Here's the cover for the MAKE Halloween special, which is loaded with projects that will show you how to create a terrific haunted house, throw a cannibal feast party, and use make-up to turn yourself into a horrific monster. The illustrations on the cover and inside were drawn by the amazing Seth, creator of Palookaville.
Halloween is *the* maker holiday - last year our contest had thousands of entries from around the world and this year we decided Halloween was so important for making we would do a special edition of MAKE.

DIY HALLOWEEN 2007 from the editors of MAKE and CRAFT brings you 40-plus DIY projects for the holiday that's made for makers. From the craftiest costumes to amazing animated props and the latest in computer-controlled haunted house effects, this special issue will include: headless Marie Antoinette costume, mechanical ghosts and ghouls, LED and laser jack-o'-lanterns, creature makeup and blood-spurting wounds, DIY coffins and tombstones, T. Rex rooftopper, flaming LED skulls, kid-tested haunted house tricks, and a special "Ghoulbox" section with Halloween kits, tools, and gadgets. Plus demonic decorations, hideous party snacks, and profiles of extraordinary makers and their creepy crafts.

You can order the special edition of MAKE here @ the Maker store only $9.99! Link

Wurstminster Dog Show

The Wurst Gallery has an online art exhibition called the Wurstminster Dog Show. Each artist was giving the choice of painting a dog breed from a list. I was the last one to be invited, so I ended up getting a kind of dog I never heard of -- the belgian tervuren. (A portion of the proceeds from this show will be donated to DoveLewis animal hospital in Portland, Oregon.)

My painting is called "Encounter in God's country Between a Belgian Tervuren and a Gigantic Beetle." It is sold. Link

Jupiter show at Roq La Rue

My art show at Roq La Rue gallery in November 2006 was a blast. I showed nine of my paintings and sold all of them. My worked was shown with four other artists: Chris Reccardi, Lynne Naylor, Johnny Yanok, and Wednesday Kirwan. Wednesday was at the show, too, and it was really fun meeting her.
